Independent regulatory insight based on experience in both food business operations and public health inspection.

I am a retired Public Health Inspector with experience in both Toronto Public Health and Alberta Health Services. My work focuses on regulatory interpretation, enforcement review, and helping food operators navigate Alberta’s food safety inspection framework.

Before entering public health inspection, I operated and managed food businesses for more than fifteen years across retail, wholesale, manufacturing, and catering environments. Having operated food businesses myself, I understand the practical realities operators face during inspections, enforcement actions, and regulatory disputes.

This combined regulatory and operational background allows me to examine inspection actions from both perspectives and provide a structured, evidence-based view of how regulatory decisions affect food businesses. My experience includes not only applying food safety regulations in the field, but also understanding how enforcement decisions are interpreted, documented, and reviewed within the regulatory system.
